Pikaliiva show apartment fitted with premium Aunman furniture

Specially commissioned furniture produced by the Estonian company Aunman features in the newly completed show apartment in the popular Pikaliiva residential complex. The apartment represents the first cooperation project undertaken between Aunman and the site’s developer, Merko Ehitus.

Based on plans drafted by interior architect Maarja Mets from Kaks Tooni, kitchen and entryway furniture was made to order by Aunman, which also provided the wardrobe solution for the bedroom and the television wall for the living room.

“My idea was to create a cosy apartment in soft tones, which are very much on-trend right now, and with luxurious details, so I thought the furniture should have the same qualities,” Mets explains. “Since the accent wall is darker in colour, I wanted to use the pastel tones of the furniture and the natural timber to produce a lighter, brighter note that would strike a balance between the two. That combination helps create a sense of warmth, while the neutral backdrop it provides leaves plenty of room to play with options further down the line.”

To add a touch of luxury to the harmonious choice of colours and materials, the designer opted for marble surfaces in a light tone for the kitchen. Eye-catching features in the entryway include the rounded brass handles on the wardrobe and an olive-green velvet ottoman with a mirrored backrest. Touches of elegance can also be found in the bedroom, where the wardrobe features grey door mirrors fitted with integrated brass handles. Marble and brass work together throughout the apartment to add hints of luxury.

What makes the kitchen furniture even more special is that stone has not only been used for the work surfaces, but also for the back and side walls and even above. As far as is known, this is the first time that such a solution has been implemented in Estonia.
A floor-to-ceiling oak veneer wall panel with milled grooves was the solution selected for the television wall, to which the base of the television is fixed with LED lighting and brass handles.

“The furniture we made for the apartment is contemporary, with clean lines and no superfluous elements,” Mets says. “It fully supports the interior concept of the apartment, which has been really well thought through. Of course, that’s one of the biggest advantages of made-to-order furniture.”

Aunman director Andreas Aun says that the company tends to focus on clients who are more demanding than the average customer. “Thanks to the smart German technology and special materials we use, we can produce made-to-order solutions no matter how complicated they might seem,” he explains. “A number of the more technically challenging orders that have been placed with us have given our craftsmen invaluable experience. It helps that our factory is in Viljandi, right in the middle of Estonia – thanks to which we can make last-minute changes, if we need to, right up to the moment the saw cuts into the timber.”

Brothers Henry and Andreas Aun assume responsibility for the seamless operation of the factory on a daily basis.
